Recommendation: I can't believe it has taken me so long to rec this! It has been literal years since I found this and fell utterly in love, but every time I thought to read it again I rediscovered that I hadn't rec'ed it yet! Well, no longer! This is one of my most favorite stories of all time. It makes me happy every time. I love their banter, I love their correspondence, I love them sharing things about themselves and their people. UGH, it is so beautiful!

Recommendation: Oh, oh, oh, such wonderful pining! And oh, this is so very in the Tolkien style, which is a beautiful thing. The Ent! But the pining, that is the good stuff.

In which recovery takes time, the dead members of the Company take to watching Gimli as though he’s a soap opera, the living struggle with being left behind, Legolas is confused, Khuzdul is abused, and Thorin is four feet and ten inches of guilt and anger.

Recommendation: In general, I promise not to recommend stories that are incomplete but this is a very special, very long exception. Even incomplete this story is massive but it is so, so good. Though I could go on and on about this story forever the real standout feature is all the dwarrowdams. Seriously, there ARE dwarf women and they … are … awesome! Thorin’s healing and growth throughout this fic is a beautiful thing, and oh, I could just keep going on and on so just read it! (Edit: Holy crap, I just found out that it’s finished! Wow, I’m going to have to restart from the start. 12/19/2021)
