Title: Give the Cardassian a Cat
Author: almaasi
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 6,613
Summary: With the O’Briens temporarily away from DS9, Chester the cat moves in with Julian. Having established that Julian’s new feline roommate is not an over-pampered, crush-stealing, lap-sitting lover that Garak needs to fight off, Garak makes a furry friend for the first time in his life. And now he can’t bear to leave Julian’s quarters. By the time Miles and Keiko get back... well, Julian, Garak, and Chester seem a little too comfortable where they are.

Recommendation: I did not know that I needed a story about Garak meeting and adopting a cat with Julian, but damn this scratched that unexpected itch. I also LOVE the thought of these two hosting "family nights" with Keiko, Miles, and the kids.

Title: Bloom
Author: Tulikettu
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 5,183
Summary: Julian has some questions about some some literature he's come across. A practical lesson is the way to go.

Recommendation: Dear sweet mother of mercy, this is a hot and sweet bit of loveliness. I'm glad I'm not the only one down for bottom Garak, of which there needs to be more.

Title: The Apostasy of Elim Garak
Author: AuroraNova
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 8,537
Summary: Dr. Bashir offers much-needed medical aid to Cardassia. It does not go as planned. With Bashir's life at stake, Garak is forced to confront a deeply flawed state, his own sentiment, and previously inconceivable limits on sacrifice.

Recommendation: Oh man, how heartbreaking for Garak after waiting so long to go home. I love that everyone that knows Garak even a little is "oh yeah, he did it for Julian".

Title: Presumption of Facts
Author: cyranothe2nd
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 10,513
Summary: After his secret is out, Julian thinks he should feel guiltier. After all, he has been lying to everyone he knows for more than two decades. But, to his great surprise, no one seems to care. His friends—with one notable exception—have been understanding and accommodating. It is that exception who has just now cancelled another lunch date.

Recommendation: Oh, I love that this one leans into the notion that a lot of Julian's breezy manners are simply a construct designed to through people (including Garak) off their potential suspicions of him. I love that Jules is a much more assertive and grasping individual that really loves all the various aspects of the equally complex Garak.

Title: All Is Fair in Love and War
Author: Syaunei
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 26,730
Summary: Garak notices a disturbing trend in his lunch companion's choice of fashion. Is Julian being his usual clueless self, or is he doing it on purpose? (AKA; Syaunei takes skant fic for a spin.)

Recommendation: Oh man, Julian wardrobe from the show was tragic and I love that that fact just drives his friend, the tailor, spare. Extra points for the use of the canonical skant. Now I feel deeply disappointed that we didn't see that used on DS9.

Title: The Latest Work
Author: 28ghosts
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 1,220
Summary: Garak is put in the unfortunate position of having to correct a misconception Bashir seems to have about Cardassian culture.

Recommendation: More fool Garak for thinking Julian, living on Cardassia, didn't know what he was doing. But it's funny anyway. ;D

Title: A Friend in the Dark
Author: AuroraNova
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 26,861
Summary: Julian Bashir is headed to a court-martial for lying about his genetic status. He's willing to accept the consequences of his actions, but Dax thinks something is wrong. When she and Sisko find out just how bad the situation is, there's only one person who can help. Garak thinks they're all hopelessly naive. Fortunately, he knows what he's doing.

Recommendation: Honestly, this episode made zero sense in the context of the rest of Star Trek canon so I really appreciate this take on it. I mean it's sad to have these two cut off from their other friends on DS9 but there is more internal logic to the narrative. Garak getting his spy on, and Julian learning the ropes are both fun and I definitely love that this gives them a real chance at a deeper relationship.

Title: Pouring Just a Hint
Author: susiecarter
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Julian Bashir/Elim Garak
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 8,925
Summary: Julian doesn't think about it much these days. Why should he, when it's been so long? But when he does, if he does, well—he considers it part and parcel of Garak, that's all. Disconcerting at first, a little invasive. Awfully close to a line but not quite crossing it, and leaving Julian with absolutely no idea what he's meant to do in response. Garak in microcosm, summarized in a single unexpected gesture. (Or: Julian has always thought Garak just had a weird little habit. Until another Cardassian does the same thing to him, and seems to imbue the gesture with a meaning Julian really had not anticipated.)

Recommendation: This sounds like such a wonderfully Cardassian gesture and while I love Garak doing his damnedest to talk his way around it I equally love Julian not letting him off the hook. Get it Bashir.

Title: That Which Makes Us
Author: Coffeedormous
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: General [G]
Word Count: 7,842
Summary: Two years after Odo left DS9 to rejoin the Great Link a message comes from Starfleet asking him to visit the station again and brief the Federation advisor on the news from the Founders' planet.

Recommendation: I love that this starts out as Odo trying to reestablish his own personhood within himself after being in the Great Link so long. And, oh, it seems so very on brand for Quark to do this. He was always so invested.

Title: Public Displays
Author: spacebubble
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 6,759
Summary: Post-canon: Odo's been a lot more affectionate ever since he's returned from the Great Link. It's different. A lot of things about Odo are different. Quark's still trying to get used to it.

Recommendation: I LOVE the thought of Odo returning from the Great Link, and him getting handsy with Quark as well. Quark's so much more pensive but I liked it because I feel like it is just a natural product of the charges that have happen for them both.

Title: (Love Is) The Cherry on Top
Author: kangeiko
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 8,523
Summary: Odo is perfectly capable of investigating Quark on his own, shapeshifting abilities or no.

Recommendation: Oh man, this is remarkable hot and seriously sweet in the end. Quark lying in plain sight is kind of his thing, Odo should have remembered that.

Title: You've Got Subspace Communication
Author: chacusha
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 11,202
Summary: Basically, it's the You've Got Mail plot but with Odo and Quark. Odo and Quark have been communicating for a while with an anonymous friend they met on a Bajoran forum, little realizing they've been talking to each other...

Recommendation: While this is very recognizably You've Got Mail, I love how chacusha adapted that story to fit with Deep Space 9, Quark, and Odo. I love them getting a chance to get to know each other without their preconceived notions getting in the way as well. All in all, super cute.

Title: Ferengi Love Letters
Author: letek
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Odo/Quark
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 5,236
Summary: Odo decides to learn how to read Ferengi and Quark hatches a plan to confess his feelings through secret love letters.

Recommendation: Gah! I love this so much! Quark leaving notes for Odo to find, Odo learning to read Ferengi to read them *sigh* it's so cute!

Title: In for a Penny, In for a Pound(ing)
Author: canyoupleasejust
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Odo/Quark
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 18,607
Summary: In order to keep Brunt from collecting a debt (of flesh), Quark and Odo pretend to be married.

Recommendation: Oh, I love this so much! Odo and Quark are exacting the sort to marry for convenience (as they have both done before) but I love that almost no one thinks that it isn't for love. Brunt is almost scary in this one, right up until he isn't. And, AND Kira and Odo being good bros to each other, oh man, so good.

Title: Uncrossed
Author: spacebubble
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Odo/Quark
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 4,637
Summary: An alternate take on Crossfire that occurs immediately after Quark's indirect pep talk. It starts with a forehead kiss and ends up somewhere much less platonic. Like, zero platonic. And Quark entangles himself in Odo's personal life more than he ever thought was possible.

Recommendation: YAASSS!! This is SO much better than weird needlessly heteronormative one-sided romance. Quark VALUES him, gah, I love it. And can I say, despite it not really being my kink, I really wanted Odo to pin Quark's wrists. That was a surprise, I can tell you.

Title: Play It Again
Author: nepetrel
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Odo/Quark
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 5,572
Summary: Quark is behaving strangely. Odo takes it upon himself to investigate.

Recommendation: The thought of the Federation having standard procedures for possession, cloning, extra-dimensional versions, and time-travel tickles me, I mean, fair enough they need them but it's a weird thing to have to go through during job training. I love Quark and Odo having a "chicken and the egg" situation over who kissed first. ;D

Title: Aural Interrogation Techniques
Author: imreallybadatusernames
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 3,236
Summary: Odo has observed Quark long enough to know his weaknesses, and wouldn't he be a fool in the name of justice if he didn't utilize them?

Recommendation: Oh naughty Odo, that isn't how interrogations are supposed to go. ;)

Title: Flights and Visions
Author: spacebubble
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 14,279
Summary: Five times Quark relied on his imagination to entertain himself during the shuttle ride to Inferna Prime, and one time he didn't have to rely on his imagination at all.

Recommendation: Oh em goodness! Quark has a NAUGHTY imagination, but it is SO good, and so HOT. They also manage to be pretty sweet too like they do.

Title: Every Time We Kiss
Author: jazzypizzaz
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 7,877
Summary: Maybe Odo knew Quark would find out that he was leaving, and he in fact expects Quark to barge in with his messy emotional demands and perhaps even a sales pitch to convince him to stay. The crisp refreshing bubbles of stardate vintage 2369 clearly going straight to his head, with this in mind, Quark marches off down the hallway to catch Odo's runabout. The kiss that comes next is something that has happened before -- in a myriad of ways, in a variety of contexts, with far too many excuses for why it never means a thing.

Recommendation: Oh man, that scene! It is better for all the kisses though, let me tell you.

Title: Acquisitions
Author: spacebubble
Canon: Star Trek DS9
Pairing: Quark/Odo
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 4,808
Summary: “We're not dying. Here, here. You can have the rest of my rations.” Set after The Ascent. Quark’s taking longer than expected to recover from the mountain, and Odo tries to distract himself from his guilt about it.

Recommendation: Unlike Garashir, this is a pairing I didn't "see" when I was watching in the before times but during the most recent rewatch it hit me like a fish to the face. Uh, these two! Odo is so cute bringing Quark get well presents. So sweet. <3
