Title: Yet Unconquered
Author: eyres
Canon: Captain America | MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/James 'Bucky' Barnes
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 30,550
Summary: James Barnes thinks he has relatively normal life. He has a job (security at the Wakandan embassy) and a house and some hobbies. Sure, he shares a name with the famous (now dead) international assassin and he just woke up from a coma with no arm or memory of his past life - but everyone has their quirks, right? Nonetheless, James can’t shake the feeling he was meant for more than this. When he discovers he has superpowers, James finds himself taking on the mantle of vigilante and finds himself face to face with a masked superhuman named Nomad. Where did James get his superpowers? Why can't he remember his past? Why is he so drawn to Nomad's blue eyes? And how does Steve Rogers play into all of this? -- Featuring: a superhero's origin, a love story, and a happy ending.

Recommendation: This was so wonderful! I love that James is not "Bucky" except that he is all of the best parts and best instincts of Bucky. I'd never heard of Steve Rogers being Nomad so that was an interesting education. [Goggle the costume he wore, it's bananas.] I love that Steve holds off getting involved with James because of all the secrets, it makes me love Steve even more (James agrees). And I really love everybody's cameos. I really just love this story from start to finish.

Title: Seahorses
Authors: poppyfields13 & tinzelda
Canon: Captain America | MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/James 'Bucky' Barnes
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 31,333
Summary: Now that Bucky’s taken over the role of Captain America, Steve feels like it’s finally the time to start a family. Bucky doesn’t know what to feel when Steve breaks the news he’s going to adopt a baby. He wants Steve to be happy, but he’s worried it will affect their friendship. Once Steve becomes a dad though, Bucky can’t help falling in love with the baby. And maybe Steve will finally see Bucky in a different light.

Recommendation: Well this was cute! I'm not a super fan of kid!fic, but this was really great. There's a teensy bit of Steve and Sharon at the get go but that dissolves pretty quickly when a retired Steve decides he wants to adopt and Sharon doesn't want kids (which is totally okay, just 'cause she's a woman doesn't mean she has to automatically want kids [it's a personal pet peeve of mine]). Steve is so cute doing his new parent thing and Bucky is really on board right from the get go, so the new baby has two parents right off the bat anyway. And it all just gets better with the feelings. Oh, and there is bonus art! It's so great.

Title: Winds of Change
Author: flowerfan
Canon: Captain America | MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/James 'Bucky' Barnes
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 46,008
Summary: Bucky’s still got some healing to do after the doctors in Wakanda rouse him from sleep and make sure there are no more deadly triggers lurking in his brain. He decides it should happen where he can have some peace and quiet, as well as a little distance from Steve’s overwhelming presence. When he sees an ad for a “Winter Caretaker” he takes the job, but it turns out to be not so peaceful after all. Or, how Bucky realized that while he still needs to heal, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing for him and Steve to do it together.

Recommendation: So this is one of those stories where I wasn't even sure I wanted to read it from the description so I start reading just to see if it was okay, and after staying up way too late I discovered I'd read the whole damn thing anyway. It was good and it dragged you along, and I really liked the whole Bucky and the cats thing. I did have a little trouble with the hand-wavy "the Avengers like each other again and run missions, but apparently don't mention all their members (e.i. Vision, Wanda, Rhodey) or only make phone calls with them (i.e. Sam)". But if I could get myself to just take the story as it is, it was a good read and Steve and Bucky getting a chance to decompress and reconnect is pretty awesome.

Title: Let This Be Light Work
Author: caughtinanocean
Canon: Captain America | MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/James 'Bucky' Barnes
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 8,628
Summary: On the run with Sam and Natasha, Steve finds the words to describe his commitment to Bucky. As with most of Steve’s decisions, there are unintended consequences. “It’s no use,” Natasha tells Sam. “You won’t get him to go out and flirt. Steve here’s a married man.” They’re somewhere in Croatia, and Sam’s been hard at work, trying to pull Steve away from a busy night of sketching and staring at his phone. He wants to go out and drink plum brandy and dance with the locals. “You should go without me,” Steve says, hazy. Married. A married man. Isn’t that something?

Recommendation: Well this was the most adorable thing ever. Steve and Bucky are super sweet, but all there interactions with their friends are nearly just as cute. Shuri's so cute, I love her.

Title: You're Gonna Have It Your Way or Nothing at All
Author: biblionerd07
Canon: Captain America/MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 15,225
Summary: Steve and Bucky aren’t really much of a Steve and Bucky anymore these days. Steve’s sure it’s because Bucky doesn’t see himself as the same guy who used to love Steve. In a desperate attempt to prove him wrong, Steve begs Bucky to go on a road trip together, the way they used to dream about, and does his best to remind Bucky of who he is.

Recommendation: Oh man, the feels. Bucky might be broken in more obvious ways but Steve is not a picture of well adjusted mental health either. But once they both except that about themselves and each other it really feels like they might have a chance to heal both themselves and their relationship. Background Sam/T'Challa for the win.

Title: Winter's Children
Author: Neery
Canon: Captain America/MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 66,888
Summary: When their attempts to recreate the super soldier serum failed, Hydra started trying to breed Captain America clones from his genetic samples. Unfortunately, the serum’s effects aren’t passed down genetically, so instead of an army of tiny Captain Americas, they get a bunch of tow-headed, asthmatic, allergic, immuno-compromised little Steves. And then the Winter Soldier stumbles across Hydra’s failed experiment…

Recommendation: This was so good, OMG! All of the tiny “Steves” were so recognisably Steve but at the same time still very much their own characters. The soldier is the scariest nanny/mommy that has ever been, that doesn’t stop him from being the best though. I love that even though the soldier is the one rescuing the kids, it’s the kids who really break through his training and help him remember and re-humanize him.

Title: All I Want For Christmas Has Been You for More Than Seventy Years
Author: Kellyscams
Canon: Captain America/MCU
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 9,561
Summary: It’s Bucky’s first Christmas back with Steve in 70 years, just a year since he’s come to live with him and the Avengers. Steve’s taking him away from the city for the occasion. Bucky assumes it’s for his own safety; just in case the hustle and bustle of the New York Christmas Season triggers some of the Winter Soldier tendencies he’s been fighting and learning to overcome. Bucky doesn’t mean to take this impromptu trip personally. Doesn’t want to be upset. But he’s recently recalled and redeveloped his feelings for Steve. Feelings he never shared with him. Feelings he has no idea if Steve shares, so being alone with his super soldier buddy might not be something he’s ready for. Only Steve’s reasons for taking Bucky away might night be so black and white–or red and green as it may be.

Recommendation: Captain *freaking* America sings a line from Frozen. If you need more than that, these two poor saps finally - f i n a l l y - get a happy Christmas. And sexytimes.

Summary: Money sure as hell buys comfort and security, but it never could buy this. Or, Steve enjoys his first birthday with Bucky back at his side.

Summary: SHIELD decides that the best way of keeping the Winter Soldier as their most valuable covert agent is to let (almost) everyone think he’s dead or disappeared.
