Title: Counterplay
Author: Amalgam000
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 52,231
Summary: Counterplay: in chess, an active maneuvering by the player in an inferior or defensive position. An episode “re-write” for Endgame (s7e25), in which the visitor from the future is not Admiral Janeway…

Recommendation: Uh, this was so good! Endgame deserves as many rewrites as we can manage but this one is *chef's kiss* magnificent. I feel like all of the emotional beats hit just that much harder and the future is just that much more dire and deserving of a redo. And then, we totally get to have the crew arrive in the Alpha Quadrant and have time to allow Kathryn and Chakotay to unpack some of their baggage. Uh, so satisfying. I also feel like Seven is handled well and isn't just shoved aside for the main pairing, also good.

Title: Lifting Weights
Author: Mizvoy
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 6,049
Summary: When the first reunion of Voyager's return comes around, Chakotay doesn't attend, making Kathryn Janeway very angry and leading to a dramatic, personal, and enlightening confrontation.

Recommendation: While I'd prefer the thought of the Maquis being accepted back with the rest of Voyager's crew, this is an interesting take with them just being let go. You can't blame Chakotay for being a bit sore about it too, though it is very on brand for Kathryn to come raging in a fit of pique. Chakotay lifting weights, yes please and thank you.

Title: Faking It
Author: KaCole
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 26,433
Summary: Kathryn and Chakotay wake in a strange bed, stark naked, and are shocked to discover they're posing as newly weds. If Voyager's command team are to survive and save their crew, they'll have to figure out pretty damn fast how to fake it.

Recommendation: This totally has the flavor of an episode but with bonus "did they or didn't they" sexytimes. The setting is an unnervingly familiar capitalist hellscape but populated by well-executed OCs. Good stuff all around.

Title: Little Pink Hearts Can Pop over Our Heads (But We'll Keep Our Cool)
Author: lodessa
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 4,102
Summary: After contact with an alien race whose soulmates' names are unexplainably written on their wrists, the command team must deal with the consequences as the same happens to the crew.

Recommendation: I LOVE this take of the whole soulmark/soulmate thing! So interesting that it is something of a mix of fate and choices. I could have stood a little more exploration of the whole Tom/Harry/B'Elanna situation but at least there is a satisfying conclusion for Chakotay and the Captain. I also liked the take on Seven.

Title: Politically Incorrect
Author: lodessa
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 7,345
Summary: After all the run-ins they’d had with hostile species recently, it was a nice change of pace to have run into one that wanted to treat them as guests of honor. She’d left Tuvok in charge of Voyager, since the alien leader had specifically invited the command team by name. She knew her ship would be safe in Tuvok’s capable hands. “Well, they are certainly a pleasant people.” Kathryn mused to Chakotay, who had wandered off to explore the rest of the suite. “Ummm… Kathryn.” He called from the other room. “Captain, I don’t see a second bedroom.” He was right; there was plenty of space, and a bathroom with a tub, which made Kathryn eagerly anticipate using it, but there was only one bedroom… and one bed. “It appears that our hosts have misinterpreted our professional partnership as something else.”

Recommendation: Honestly, you can't blame the attaché for thinking what she thought and I like that Kathryn is sensitive to not getting her into trouble.

Title: Milk Run
Author: jottingz
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 7,955
Summary: Post Endgame. Chakotay gets a new mission.

Recommendation: I love these two getting a chance to relax and get reacquainted without their duties getting in the way. What's a little mortal peril if they get there in the end.

Title: The Dog Days of Voyager
Author: DianeB
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 5,733
Summary: Written for a "What if" challenge. What if. . .an alien race presented Janeway with a dog? How would the rest of the crew respond? Fun and fluff, woofs and womance, a big doggie, and a little J/C. Who could ask for anything more?

Recommendation: Puppy! Even if it's an alien doggo. Long space missions should have pets, how are we supposed to get by without them.

Title: Lulu to the Rescue
Author: Mizvoy
Canon: Star Trek VOY
Pairing: Kathryn Janeway/Chakotay
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 15,313
Summary: Once Voyager returns to the Alpha Quadrant, Luann Powell retired chief of Starfleet counseling is convinced that she is the counselor Janeway needs to help her reclaim her life after seven years as captain. Post Endgame.

Recommendation: I was eleven-ish when I watched the pilot for this show with my parents and even then I could see the magnetic attraction between the captain and her new first officer. When I realized it was never going to happen (because the writer's had "reasons" **snerk**) my young heart was broken. I didn't watch the show all the way to the final season, but I got curious after about how it had ended only to discover Chakotay and Seven! Gah, betrayed and heartbroken again. But fanfic is the balm to all canon ills, and I promptly sought it out. Mizvoy writes great stuff and you've got to love an octogenarian spitfire.
