Title: To Have a Home
Author: bazemayonnaise
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: Charon/Zero
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 12,593
Summary: Zero doesn’t think he can keep his eyes open much longer, his tongue heavy and the resound ringing in his head a sure sign he’s running far too low on blood. It’s getting hard to think with the steady thump, so he lets his gut choose for him. Concierge, friend of John Wick, Zero’s gut tells him. Concierge can be trusted. Zero snorts a small laugh, fascinated by where this day has gone, then relaxes his grip on the sword, his right thumb and forefinger touching in a brief ‘okay’. Or, 5 times Zero doesn't adopt a dog and 1 time he does.

Recommendation: Now, you know that I love rare pairings and minor characters so I genuinely could not help myself when presented with this story. But sweet Jesus, it is so good. So many delicious details fleshing these two out. Uh, so good.

Title: A Third Option
Author: 1863
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: Viggo Tarasov/Avi
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 13,632
Summary: Some desires are a weakness; show weakness and be destroyed. Those are the only options Viggo has ever had. And then he meets Avi.

Recommendation: Holy crap, this is the literal best thing. I love, love, love all of the fraught tension and the unspoken things. I love all of the hints and tells. I love Kirill being impressed but lowkey about it. I love Viggo being his vicious badass self and that just doing it for Avi, likewise Avi's thorough competence.

Title: Whiteout
Author: livenudebigfoot
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: Viggo Tarasov/Avi
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 15,661
Summary: They are defined by their empire: the deals Avi brokered, the bodies Viggo buried. That's all gone now.

Recommendation: Oh man, this is so good. Both Viggo and Avi are pitch-perfect in dealing with their grief and their losses. I love that Avi is nurture-y but not actually really good at it and that as detached as Viggo seems he's still really invested in Avi.

Title: Shot Right Through with a Bolt of Blue
Author: 1863
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: Viggo Tarasov/Avi
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 4,068
Summary: The aftermath of a shootout leads to something Avi never, ever expected.

Recommendation: I wasn't expecting this pairing to get to me like it did, but hot damn. They're evil assholes, but, you know, with feelings.

Title: Made Men
Author: manic_intent
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: John Wick/Santino D'Antonio
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 44,156
Summary: “With you it’s always ‘Father this’, ‘Father that’.” Gianna sniffed. “It’s an obnoxious habit. Very childish. Act your age.” “Oh? And trying to interrupt a stranger about his business isn’t obnoxious?” “You’re such an asshole,” Gianna said, incredulous. “I can’t believe you said that. We’re trying to save a life.” “If you were remotely interested in charity of that nature you wouldn’t be in the family business.” The stranger was staring at them now, blinking owlishly. It wasn’t an unfamiliar reaction to anyone exposed to his sister and their quarrels. “Do you guys mind?” he said finally. His voice was rusty, seldom used.

Recommendation: Oh my God, this is so very, very good. The best, best thing about this is John's voice. *chef's kiss* It is perfection, he is just as nihilist as you'd imagine for his inner voice as this time in his life but his is still likable for all that. Santino and Gianna are younger and softer, well, relatively speaking. It amused me that John saw a Devil in Santino while others are not nearly that impressed. I loved that Cassian is included, he was so awesomely stoic. I can see why this one is one of the author's favorite of their own work, top shelf stuff.

Title: A Reasonable Amount of Trouble
Author: revanchist
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: John Wick/Santino D'Antonio
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 24,278
Summary: The look she gave me could have chilled a man — or laid him out on a morgue slab. “My father died three weeks ago; he left the clan and his seat on the High Table to me. With that seat comes certain responsibilities.” “I’m retired,” I said. “You were retired,” she said. “And while you were content to play house, or to drink yourself to death, or to drive around in your car wasting away — you were not my concern. But you chose to return to the board.” “Get out of my house,” I said. Gianna ignored me. “I do not want to be here, John. I came to call in a favor.”

Recommendation: While manic_intent is captaining this fine ship, they are by no means sailing alone and this is a fine example. Santino definitely comes off as, not softer in this but maybe more sentimental and really that is a good thing. Gianna on the other hand is tough as nails and all delightfully in charge. Finally, I love the idea of John actually having a future ahead of him, so I adore this ending.

Title: The Omertà series
Author: manic_intent
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: John Wick/Santino D'Antonio
Rating: Mature - Explicit [R - NC-17]
Word Count: 9,681
Summary: To John’s surprise, Winston sighed and closed his eyes briefly, his hands clasped over his perfectly pressed trousers. The master of New York’s Continental was an amiable man, at least on the surface, and although the years had cut seams into his face and peppered his hair with silver threads, he was still a man of precision and consequence. One of the few men whose opinions John still valued. “You don’t approve,” John said, when the silence stretched his patience thin. Winston’s elegant study in the Continental was drawn in shades of mahogany and oak and velvet, where books, never read, lined wall shelves with their stitched leather spines. The only books of consequence in the study were kept in the thrice-locked desk, ledgers that tallied lives and deaths. And oaths. “It is not my place to approve or disapprove, Mister Wick,” Winston said. “D’Antonio said he’d only do this for me if I gave him a marker.”

Recommendation: It's a Daisy fix-it! If you're a fan of John Wick, I'm not sure why you would need more but it also has the D'Antonio's lecturing John on proper puppy care. *chef's kiss* Utter perfection.

Title: Simple Things
Author: manic_intent
Canon: John Wick
Pairing: John Wick/Santino D'Antonio
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 6,622
Summary: John stared, incredulous. “You want me to be your plus one. To your sister’s coronation.” “To put it crudely, yes.” Santino wrinkled his nose. Trust the Baba Yaga to cut brutally to the point. “No shooting anyone?” “If you feel you have to, be my guest. It’s entirely optional. I’d also prefer that you clear something like that ahead of time with me. As a matter of courtesy.”

Recommendation: I really enjoyed the John Wick movies, but I honestly didn't ship him with anyone. That is the magic of a good fanfic writer, they make you believe something is possible when you didn't even see it before. And manic_intent is a VERY good fanfic writer. I feel like this path would have been saner for Santino, but he is still a slut for chaos and darkness.
