On Commenting

On Commenting from trascendenza   

 

I have seen this around on other journals and I couldn't help but be charmed. So I am officially adopting this as my policy :D.

 

I welcome all of the following types of comments on any of my entries:

 

+ Single or two word comments.

+ "+1" or Facebook style "like".

+ Otherwise brief comments, e.g. single sentences.

+ A comment that is a punctuation mark(s) to let me know you read, e.g. a period, an asterisk.

+ A comment that is a punctuation mark(s) to express your response, e.g. an exclamation mark or question mark.

+ A comment that is an emoticon(s) to express your response.

+ Long, wordy comments. Rambling is totally okay.

+ Comments and links on related topics.

+ Comments on single links, entities, paragraphs, topics, or words in the entry.

+ Sequential commentary. It's totally okay to comment about one thing as you read it, then another thing in a separate comment, then a third thing.

+ Incoherent comments. I would rather have you here and showing interest, even if it's just a *flail*, than for you to stay silent because you are afraid or unable to get the perfect comment out.

+ Talking amongst yourselves in the comments is fine. I like creating a place where people get to interact!

 

I also welcome:

 

+ Comments on old entries.

+ Comments from people who are not subscribed to me.

+ Comments from people who I’ve never met.

+ Comments from people who haven’t talked to me in awhile.

+ Comments from people who’ve never talked to me.

+ I like knowing the provenance of new commenters. If you're new, I'd love to know where you came from and what brought you here. (But if you're feeling shy that's okay too, you can try again another time, no pressure) :)

Aw, this is a sweet post! I know people miss kudos, but I kinda like how it’s forcing people to leave comments. Even a short comment is nicer than just a kudos!

I know right. :) I just feel like while a kudos is nice, any sort of personalized feedback has to be 100% better. After I saw a couple of people had used this "Commenting How-To" I couldn't resist. And if one started out their fandom life on Tumblr, knowing what can constitute an acceptable comment can be a bit off a learning curve. I know I find it reassuring.

For real. :P But with c/p you can change things to suit yourself and they had disabled changing things in a reblog a while ago on Tumblr (for good reason.) :D

I'm so glad people are finding the commenting culture template useful!

I do have a request: would you mind linking back to the original entry where I created it? Mainly so that if anyone else would like to use the full/longer template that they know where to find it :)
