Can we talk about the fact that there are more Peter and Tony stories (which is très messed up) than there are Peter and Ned stories.

I don't think we as a fandom... we as a people talk about this enough fghjkkjhgf Spiderman/Deadpool I get bc they have like... comic history and stuff with an adult Peter (tho Holland Spiderman/MCU Deadpool??? yikes,,,), but rEALLY,,,,, ppl are rly going for adult mentor/minor protegee more than superhero and his similarly age best friend support come on

I know right! I'll leave aside comics Peter (and Spideypool) 'cause that a different animal, but Tom Holland's Spider-Man is SIXTEEN. Ugh, and I double checked there are 1,432 Tony/Peter PAIRING stories right now. (That doesn't have anything to do with the Tony & Peter stories where Tony is all parental and I love those so much.) Ned/Peter, there are 202. Those numbers hurt my heart. Ned is 7 times less likely to be ship with Peter than his forty-something-year-old mentor who has become something of a paternal figure. *inarticulate sound of frustration and despair*

It's even worse when you consider that the MCU Spider-man heavily ripped off comics Miles Morales, with Ned Leeds being an extremely obvious rip-off of Ganke Lee - to the point that the writers/producing team for Into The Spiderverse had to cut back on Ganke Lee's part in their script lest the non-comics-reading audience get confused. And still the fans won't ship whitewashed!Miles!Peter with anyone non-white. It's truly egregious.

Ugh, that does make it worse. Though I have the sneaking suspicion that the pairing would be more popular if Ned was more "conventionally attractive". :P (But he's such a cutie >:()
