Challenge #8

In your own space, create a wishlist. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So my list, isn't so much a list. I wish to be able to create more podfic/story covers but I would like to do it for someone who has asked maybe even before they have posted. It just feels a little weird sidling up to podficcers/authors and dropping a "hey, I don't if you'll like this or care but here is a cover for your work". There is a tag that says cover art welcome, but honestly it seems like only the same few creators use it over and over. I don't know, I feel like flexing those creative muscles. Any takers?

You are a rock star! I'm impressed with how many lovely covers you've created in such a short time!

It's less offense and more apathy that I suppose I'm, not concerned about, just somehow worried that that will be the response (not that I've not had positive feedback, but like many creative people I'm always worried that it will happen the next time). But if I know that someone is looking for art then I know that it will be received well.

The "cover art welcome" tag is awesome, I hope it gets used more. I spent my last vacation making my way through it. ;)

I know that you're in small fandoms, but honestly your personally responsible for me ending up in at least two of them so I definitely wanted to make some covers. First was one in Life on Mars, and the second for The Alienist. :D

That would be amazing! I tend to write in very small fandoms, but you've got time and inspiration, I'd adore a cover for anything I've written.

I think I have done all the referencing I intended:
* approved the AOL connection
* referenced the cover art in the AOL and DW postings of the script
* put the reference under the wishlist item
* posted about the new cover on DW

Huh. I didn't know that there was such a tag, they say, having used a "fanart welcome" tag on one of my works already, but if there were something that you felt remarkably inspired by, a cover art or a podfic would absolutely be a welcome thing. silveradept is the place where they exist.

...do I need to be more specific about the transformative works statement so that people feel confident that basically anything will be liked and enjoyed, and if it turns out not to be, the effort will still be appreciated?

...also, have we had this conversation before? I'm getting deja lis about it.

I didn't even know cover art was a thing! I'm a terrible writer, but you're always welcome to create any art etc you want about my fic. I do intend to finish a wip for that one challenge due in march and a cover for that would be really cool but - I have yet to write even a single line. ;_;

Thank you so very much. I love what you did. Prodigal Son is a lot of fun (S2 just started), a police procedural with a twist (the profiler is the son of a serial killer) and stellar cast (Michael Sheen, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bellamy Young, Tom Payne to name a few).

I don't think you'd need to further specify it in a transformative statement, if someone read your story and wants to make a cover for it I feel like that would do it (on the other hand it might not be a bad thing to specify, I'm torn). But I know sometimes I just want to ~~art~~ and it is a lot easier to just scroll through a tag until you find something that inspires you. This might just be a "me thing" rather than a "fandom thing", I couldn't say.

I'm reasonably certain that I've not had this conversation before, but honestly, I couldn't swear to it, lol. *shrug*
