isabellerecs: Sunflowers on yellow (sunflowers)

Prompt 3: Yellow
Yellow is a bright color that is associated with a variety of things including: joy, enlightenment, enthusiasm, alertness, danger, clarity, summer, expression, deceit, cowardice, confidence, satisfaction, and optimism.

Yellow can be a polarizing color, for some invoking the bright joy of optimism ... while serving as a symbol of duplicitous gutlessness for others. When has yellow been a prominent color in your life? Were you torn in two directions, or was its meaning clear?

Please feel free to answer in whichever way comes naturally to you, be it a memory you share or an artwork you create. If you’d like a more specific idea to kick things off: tell us a story that reminds you of the color yellow or one of its listed qualities.

Initially, I thought that "yellow" would be way easier than "orange" but I was surprised to discover not as much easier as I'd been hoping. So my first thought was to do some recs with blonds, but really "blond" is not "yellow" so I returned to the drawing board. I finally settled on rec'ing stories with characters with yellow/gold eyes or at the very least one eye that is yellow/gold (care of our heterochromatic favs).

isabellerecs: Loveday in Blue Eyes Rolling (Default)
Title: Synchronicity
Author: manic_intent
Canon: X-Men (Filmverse)
Pairing: Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier
Rating: Mature [R]
Word Count: 26,556
Summary: Erik waits with careful patience outside Marshall Fury's office, his shoulders pressed to the metal hull of Shatterdome Anchorage's corridor. He breathes in, slowly, and then out, and all in all, he doesn't exactly mean to eavesdrop, he tells himself, it's just that he's early, and Marshall Fury isn't exactly making an effort to be quiet.

Recommendation: I love that Pacific Rim AUs have become like the Hogwarts AUs found in every fandom, but I love it when an author adapts the premise to new canons. Mutant telepaths are essential to the Drift, but I love that other mutants with varying powers are also accounted for. I love the build-up between Charles and Erik, but I was further charmed by the inclusion of Cablepool. I love them. This was just other all great, but I would expect nothing less for manic_intent.
