Non-Rec: Sylvie's BEST Idea!!

The wonderful sylvaine (who already redid the trope sorter to make a non-romance version) has come up with another wonderful idea! They proposed that one could use your top ten of either or both of the trope sorters’ results as prompts for recs, fics, arts, what have you. :) Obviously, I’m going to do a recs list. I tried not to go too hard on this or over think any of these selections, but it was difficult to hold myself back on some of them. I’m going to be using the romantic trope sorter, because I read mostly romantic fics. :D

 

For my very top trope I’ve got four recs, two for “Fake Dating (with feelings)” and another two for “Fake Married (with feelings)”. ;D

In the Groundhog day trope, have you read Lets Do The Timwarp again by Lettered? It's an incrediblme take on the trope and I adore her Responsible Science series.

Ho, I envy you then. I think it still is one of my favourite series ever.
'Let's do the timewarp' can be read as a standalone, but the whole Responsible Science series does amazing things characterization-wise, but also by gutting various tropes and then putting them back together.

It really made me think about the tropes when I really tried to apply them to the stories that I've liked. I noticed that while I don't think there's anything wrong with "And They Were Roommates!" I didn't really have many (if any) stories that fit the trope in my repertoire. So I'm thinking it really shouldn't have been as high as it was. *shrug* It was fun to work up this list though.

I'll be honest, I found making a recs list via tropes to actually be kind of hard. I just don't mentally sort my reading by the tropes that they embody, but rather almost entirely by the main pairings featured in them. I'm thinking it might be good to be more mindful about that in future. :D

Same here, actually! It's also so much harder to categorise by this kind of content than by things like pairing or fandom, I find... and yet I am more likely to be interested in fics via tropes than via fandom/pairing/that kind of thing? So really I should retool how I tag my bookmarks. xD
